Real Job: Week Four

Week four of my captivity. The natives are restless and demanding things of me, such as "exam reviews", "make up quizzes", and knowing "where my office is". Oddly, all of the information pertaining to these things are on an ancient document called a "syllabus". It is very amazing that these natives all seem to have anterograde amnesia spanning the past four weeks. This was readily evident on their first exams. The Cognition natives were very astute, suffering only mild symptoms and averaging 81% on their exam. The younger natives do not fair as well. Those which I see during the day average a 71%, whereas the night natives only a 50%...not counting any zeros. This leads me to believe that the night natives are suffering not only from anterograde amnesia, but lack of "studying", "reading of textbooks", and "generalized work ethic". It is even possible that they did not understand what a "study guide" was. This language barrier was corrected in an hour long communication called "classtime" when we reviewed "test grades" with "no curve". They will soon be learning what "academic alerts", "failing grades", and "course tutor" means - perhaps. My captivity continues next week with Exam 2.

Word from the outside world increased this week. My dissertation may be defended this semester afterall. Turns out that the email capacity at TTU is not very high, leading to full mailboxes and lost emails. Now the system is back up and working, and now the data can be discussed from afar. With luck I shall escape this establishment at the first of November to make a final journey to Lubbock and end this thing called "school".
